Nicaragua, located in Central America, is officially known as the Republic of Nicaragua. Agriculture has invariably been a significant industry of the country. However, a greater number of the population is now employed by the services sector. The main crops of Nicaragua are coffee, sugarcane, bananas, cotton and rice. Nicaragua is a member of the World Trade Organization along with several other organizations. Livestock are raised including horses, goats, sheep and hogs. Chief industries of the country include food processing, chemicals, machinery and metal products, clothing, textiles, wood, petroleum refining and distribution, beverages and footwear. |
